  • For the year 2008 in review, CLICK HERE

This is a great link from Guypithicus, I loved it!

Who is your person of the year from 2008?

Usain Bolt DESTROYED the field.  Can you find Usain Bolt in this picture?

Don’t look over by the runners in the picture.  Look waaaaaay over there to the right after the finish line.

I had to go wide screen on it he won by so much.  I mean Bolt is damn near putting his warmups back on

and eating his post race snack before the rest of the “greatest athletes in the world” even cross the finish line.

And he ran a 9.69.  And he started clowing and high-stepping like Deion Sanders at the 80 meter mark.

And he rocked the crazy point it out pose before the race.

    These pics are so crazy.

The last two pictures and prose are taken randomly from this site: Posted by Lake Arlington

The FASTEST human alive. EVER!! USAIN BOLT is my choice.

We lost some great writer’s in 2008. My runner-up choice is —

Nobel prize winner Solzhenitsyn dies at 89 Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Moscow – Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the Nobel prize winner for literature who was exiled from the Soviet Union and graphically

portrayed life in Soviet labour camps, was dead at age 89, the news agency Interfax reported early Monday.

The agency quoted literary circles in the Russian capital.

The world famous writer and historian had not been seen in public for months. He died from

the aftermath of a stroke, according to unconfirmed information.

Solzhenitsyn’s main work was the Gulag Archipelago in 1973, which described the years of

Stalinist terror using thousands of details and individual cases.

The 1970 Nobel winner has reportedly been seriously ill for months.

And who can say Au Revoir to 2008 without adding one last word and face:

    Take care, Mr. President.

Geesh, get a load of these starlings. Brazen enough??

    Food Fight!

friedman.jpg This picture looks somewhat like meVisit jesusthepsychic's Xanga Site , (hmm) except that I have longer hair. If it isn’t me, then who is it? Who do you resemble?

Looks like I will be going to Michigan next week. Yes, for Thanksgiving, but also to be with Mom. She has had many

dramatic recoveries after being near death for three months, three years ago. After recovering last time, she gloated “I get over everything!” Up to now she has, however, she has just returned from pneumonia and lungs whited out. She got better and came home. Then her lungs coated again. The doctor even suggested that she may have cancer. My sister Becky has said that Mom has had enough, that her heart can’t take another invasive procedure. So now we are waiting to see what increased dosages of anti-biotics can do for her comfort. She is fine and serene, but my family has decided to go the hospice route. In a few months or weeks, she may die in her sleep. her next birthday is an important significant one. She wants to reach it, but we aren’t giving her good odds. We’ll see. Take care.

I just like this picture: from Hurricane Ike

Can you see that they are stuck in somebody’s fence? Hmm…

    sad news: <A class=showtt href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080918/ap_on_re_us/ike_the_missing;_ylt=AnFD72UddbTxAhl6ZkJxJYtH2ocA" rtext='

GALVESTON, Texas – The death toll from Hurricane Ike is remarkably low so far, considering that legions of people stayed behind as the storm obliterated row after row of homes along the Texas coast. But officials suspect there are more victims out there and say some might simply have been swept out to sea.

    • Sarah the racist?

      September 5, 2008

      by Charley James –

      “So Sambo beat the bitch!”

This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively.

“It was kind of disgusting,” Lucille, who is part Aboriginal, said in a phone interview after admitting that she is frightened of being discovered telling folks in the “lower 48” about life near the North Pole.

Then, almost with a sigh, she added, “But that’s just Alaska.”

Racial and ethnic slurs may be “just Alaska” and, clearly, they are common, everyday chatter for Palin.

Besides insulting Obama with a Step-N’-Fetch-It, “darkie musical” swipe, people who know her say she refers regularly to Alaska’s Aboriginal people as “Arctic Arabs” – how efficient, lumping two apparently undesirable groups into one ugly description – as well as the more colourful “mukluks” along with the totally unimaginative “f**king Eskimo’s,” according to a number of Alaskans and Wasillians interviewed for this article.

But being openly racist is only the tip of the Palin iceberg. According to Alaskans interviewed for this article, she is also vindictive and mean. We’re talking Rove mean and Nixon vindictive.

No wonder the vast sea of white, cheering faces at the Republican Convention went wild for Sarah: They adore the type, it’s in their genetic code. So much for McCain’s pledge of a “high road” campaign; Palin is incapable of being part of one.

      “Sambo Beat the Bitch”
“Palin is a conniving, manipulative, a**hole,” someone who thinks these are positive traits in a governor told me, summing up Palin’s tenure in Alaska state and local politics.

“She’s a bigot, a racist, and a liar,” is the more blunt assessment of Arnold Gerstheimer who lived in Alaska until two years ago and is now a businessman in Idaho.

charley-james.jpg“Juneau is a small town; everybody knows everyone else,” he adds. “These stories about what she calls blacks and Eskimos, well, anyone not white and good looking actually, were around long before she became a glint in John McCain’s rheumy eyes. Why do I know they’re true? Because everyone who isn’t aboriginal or Indian in Alaska talks that way.”

“Sambo beat the bitch” may be everyday language up in the bush. Whether it – and the outlook, politics and worldview Palin reflects when she says such things in public – should be part of a presidential campaign is another thing altogether. The comment says as much about McCain as it does about Palin, and it says a lot of things about Americans who overlook such statements (as well as her record) and vote anyway for McCain.

    • Hi,

Have you ever heard of aerial hunting? It’s a brutal practice. Wolves are shot from low-flying aircraft or chased to exhaustion, then killed at point-blank range.

Governor Sarah Palin, the Republican nominee for Vice President, promotes this barbaric practice, exploiting a loophole in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act to allow private wolf killers to shoot down wolves using aircraft. We have to get the word out about this!

You see two medals. Not sure if they are this year for sure.

I know she had at least one gold. Her main sport is swimming.

I remember her for her bravery. She participated in the great (fill in the blank later – blank) event

where shere collided with a fixed hurdle and was injured a bit.

Great event. Anybody think of it?

SORRY BRITTA! BRITTA INDEED WON TWO GOLD SWIMMING MEDALS IN BEIJING. NOW TO FIND OUT WHO THE PERSON WAS

    IN THE STEEPLECHASE.

What do you think is the most difficult sport represented in the olympics? heptathalon? decathlon? marathon? others?

To me it is synchronized swimming. That looks hard!
