    The Kraken

    Below the thunders of the upper deep,
    Far, far beneath in the abysmal sea,
    His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep
    The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee
    About his shadowy sides; above him swell
    Huge sponges of millennial growth and height;
    And far away into the sickly light,
    From many a wondrous and secret cell
    Unnumbered and enormous polypi
    Winnow with giant fins the slumbering green.
    There hath he lain for ages, and will lie
    Battening upon huge sea-worms in his sleep,
    Until the latter fire shall heat the deep;
    Then once by man and angels to be seen,
    In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.

    BASEBALL HALL OF FAME ADMITS A DESERVING GOOSE GOSSAGE

    SELFISH BASEBALL HALL OF FAME, LEAVES OUT JIM RICE AND DESERVING DETROIT TIGERS…

    one more year for outstanding player Jim Rice. My take: If they wouldn’t consider him this year, he’ll not get in. (Make a new HALL)

    (will add heartsinking comment of the New England Patriots loss to the NY Giants) take care

  • If you like ‘The Kraken’, try reading The Rime of the Ancient Mariner: a gothic tale of the supernatural at work at sea. I’ve just had to do the Rime for my English Literature. In the beginning I hated it! But after a while, i’ve come to love it! The description of everything is amazing!

    Kung Hei Fat Choi!

  • my dad was a Tiger  way back when the game was real & the players  were in it for no more than  love of playing the game    blessings beck

  • Ralph Nader is running? Lol! He will never, EVER win! The only votes he’ll get are from those too loony for even the Democrats (a very small number, indeed).

  • Interesting poem to start your post. Where are the links (“prev” “contents” & “next”) supposed to take one?

  • The FIX was in  Belichick in a brand new whore-red hoodie and Tommy boy not coming out no-huddle in the second half!!!

    Guess they’ll just have to go 37-1

  • In my opinion, a black man, a woman… and a mormon will not win.

    The Kraken *thumbs up*

  • IF you read this in time…check out Pete Dominick tomorrow…

  • nope, babes, i still have ferdinand on my arm, he’s just on the inside.

  • Rime of the Ancient Mariner was written by Samuel Colderidge. After studying the book for my exam i’ve decided to keep the copy rather than giving it back to the college.

    I have a novel to advise you to read: Haunted by Chuck Palinhuik. I’ve just finished reading it and i want to read it again. It’s a feast of blood and gore. It’s an example of how far people will go to show they’ve suffered more than anyone else.

    Another book to advise if yu haven’t already read it is Catcher In the Rye. all the way through it, it reminded me of a friend of mine. And it had the same affect on one of my friends. They can see the characters as being people they know/knew

  • wednesdaywannabe – I watched several bloody movies this year, so plan to put off reading any anytime soon. May pick up one of his books sometime though. I know he is popular. I need to work on the mammoth book I am currently reading: Pynchon’s ‘Against The Day’.

  • Is ‘Against the Day’ any good? What’s it about?
