What a post season and year for the Detroit Tigers. A portion of the entire world now knows these guys at least to an extent now. Hats off to the St. Louis Cardinals who lost the first game, then won 4 straight. I still believe that a long lay-off after taking Oakland in 4 straight, cooled down a very hot team and took the edge away. These Tigers performed a miracle with so many rookie and young pitchers to get into the postseason this year. Kenny Rogers had a post season for the ages, going 23 innings without having any runs scored against him. Chris Carpenter did the unthinkable also when he won game three without allowing a single hit to the top 6 batters in the Detroit batting order, and allowing only three hits. Cards pitcher Jeff Weaver was sterling tonight, in the finale, as well. Nice to see him rebound in such a way after several subpar years in a row. St. Louis nearly folded in the regular season before holding off a Houston team. Few teams have gone to the world series and won with only 83 regular season wins. Credit Cardinal manager Tony LaRussa. Tiger manager, Jim Leyland, in anybodys book is deserving to receive designation as American League manager of the year. St. Louis had not been victorious in a world series since 1982. They have, however, now won the series 10 times. Prior to this season, Detroit had been to the World Series 8 times and had not lost since the first decade or so in the 20th century when they lost 4 in a row. They had last won in 1984 vs. the SanDiego Padres, and played against the Cardinals in a winning effort in 1968. Cardinals shortstop, David Eckstein, won the series MVP award. Baseball is over now for the season, as a bame, with seasonal awards to be given out in the days ahead. I believe that the Boston Red Sox slugger, David Ortiz, should get the Most Valuable Player Award. I am not sure that he will get it, though he should. Detroit rookie pitcher, Justin Verlander will probably receive the rookie of the year award, though Jonathon Papelbon of the Red Sox, and Liriano of the Minnesota Twins had years that merit just as highly. They did not complete the year though, due to injuries, and did not prevail to take their teams to the world series. Enough. The book I mentioned in the last post, Jew Girl, can be ordered through Amazon or from the author. He comments regularly on my site. I think he played in the band, Def Leopard, and has tags to Bob Dylan and Jimmy Hendricks. I also believe he is associated with Howard Stern, along with almost any musician imaginable. If you get the book, please read more that a few pages. peace, JtheP.
I will attempt to depict and describe a curveball as soon as I can, as well to mention a couple of more Detroit Tigers, in honorarium, from the past. Laterz.

UGH! Can you believe it. Oh well, there’s always next year. Go Tigers! Ang
It was indeed a great series, and I offer my condolences to you that your Tigers didn’t win it. But the team sure had a successful season, and they’ll be back! I think my Jays are kicking themselves for letting Chris Carpenter get away. He’s certainly developed into a fine young pitcher. I think you’re right, if the Tigers had a bit more energy left in their tank, the outcome may have been different.
Have a wonderful weekend! Cheers!!
Harbor springs I think is closest and then Petosky. Traverse city is kind of the last large outpost. Have you been to Mackinac? All of these places are beautiful and if you ever have the time and money great to see. Of course whoever has both at once? Ang
sorry about your beloved tigers……..chin up…..tomorrow is another day.
Tomesara.
I’m sorry, About an hour south of. Ang Sometimes I’m a little slow.lol
Eckstein winning the series MVP was a no brainer. I hope Ortiz can win the MVP but the argument against him is always b/c he’s a DH and doesn’t have to play any D -_-” Oh well, we’ll see how it turns out.
