Donna Karan fashion:
Still fairly new to the catwalk scene, Isreali born Avsh Alom Gur blends poverty with luxury to create a style all his own. This years S/S collection could only be described as FUN! Seriously. Don’t discount the power of fun.
Jewel coloured dresses with wild embroidery, multiple sashes and chunch jewlery pieces. The line is constructed using layers of silk and chiffon. Put it on and you become art. It’s wonderful.

Love the dog pics, and love the model pics even more! lol
Those comics are classic! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve never heard of Avsh Alom Gur before, but his designs are gorgeous!
The artwork…er….clothing is so much fun and so happy. I love it!
J-man, I was going to ask if you did any trapping…but something tells me that the answer is no. Most any man who would blog about how clothing can be art probably would not trap. (With the single exception of yours truly!) As a side note, if you still have any of your dads stuff laying about and want to get rid of it…let me know! Perhaps we can work out a deal? Ebooks for stuff!
Sail on… sail on!!!
@tumbling_dice - Wonder if I could get to one of Gur’s shows sometime. Love those dogs if I am in the country. Right now though, I’m in a highrise…
@wednesdaywannabe - the designs are spectacular…
@butshebites - It IS art!
@dreadpirate - Bro, don’t make assumptions. Like Michael Moore, I am from Michigan. MM was a part of the NRA. But no, I’ve never trapped. Dad had some leghold traps. Not sure where he got them or when. He trapped officially when he was a kid in Oklahoma. Long, long ago. None of that stuff has been around for ages. Sorry. I think he used the traps on our farm to catch chicken predators. Probably groundhogs and gophers too. Actually, as a wildlife conservation person I doubt I would use such. You’re right. My neighbors angered me by trapping all of the fox in our area. A neighbor told me that the state dosen’t even protect otters. Nothern Michigan has otters. Our part hasn’t had that in a hundred years probably. We finally had one make his way to the creek that runs behind the property. Everybody was excited, but somebody trapped it! Sad. I love clothing as art, btw. take care
@jesusthepsychic -
Me? Make assumptions? HA! I am surprised that your game commission (or whatever it is called in your area) does not have laws protecting certain species. Maybe you can help the critters by lobbying for some good laws? I am not talking being PETA crazy but responsible crazy, ya know?
I bet you might really enjoy some of the clothing created with fur. I think that is probably the most beautiful stuff in the world! But then again, I am a pirate.
Have a great Hallowe’en, my friend!!
@dreadpirate - No doubt Michigan needs more laws, however, I am away from there and live in Boston area. In this area I am critisized for having anything leather, say nothing of fur. Thanks for the comments.
When i was in high school my father got a dog that was Irish wolfhound mixed with something else…you should’ve seen the loads of crap HE’d make if you didn’t walk him on time
Been a long time man, long time. Still teeming with life over here. Unfortunately I’ll have to rain check on your offer, I’ll be in Upstate New York from Tuesday night until Saturday morning. Glad to hear from you – for some reason, Xanga has been selectively emailing my subscriptions so I wasn’t even aware you were updating. At any rate, lets close with some low brow humor…
while I’m sure it wasn’t intended, should probably scale back on the over abundance of bitches up there. Somebody had to do it.
